Allwell Psychology
Allwell Psychology offers a collaborative approach for all clients. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions if you are unsure of anything. Here are some frequently asked questions:
Are my sessions confidential?
Your personal and health information will be treated with professional confidentiality appropriate to the Code of Ethics of the Australian Psychological Society and the relevant Victorian Government legislation. Case notes will be maintained by your psychologist in the provision of treatment and will be kept securely for a period of 7 years as a requirement of the Psychology Board of Australia. We welcome any questions you have about this process.
How often will my sessions be?
This will be determined by your needs along with the knowledge and training of your psychologist to best suit your situation. Usually this is every 1-2 weeks in the initial stages. Counselling works to improve wellbeing and recovery but requires a commitment from you. If you do decide to engage in the process, attending all your appointments is important for you to receive the full benefits and support that psychological therapy offers.
How long will the sessions be?
Individual counselling sessions are usually 50 minutes.
What if I need to speak to my psychologist in between sessions?
At times during your recovery journey, you may feel overwhelmed or that you need additional support. You can leave a message for your psychologist to call you to discuss your concerns, but keep in mind that a response may take up to 24 hours, particularly if you phone out of working hours.
What if I am running late for my appointment?
Sometimes life does not go as planned and we understand that there may be circumstances beyond your control. We will try to accommodate you if we can, but if you will be more than 15 minutes late, then it is likely that you will need to reschedule, as you will not be able to extend your session beyond your original scheduled session time.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
There may be circumstances in which you need to cancel or reschedule after you have made an appointment. We ask that you call or text 2 days before your scheduled appointment time, so that we can make this time available for other clients who may be on our waiting list.
If you don't provide enough notice that you are not going to attend your appointment, you may be charged a cancellation fee up to the full session rate.
